Morning Motivation: How-to Start Your Day Off Right

Ever wake up in the morning with zero motivation and you wish you could just lay in bed all day?

Well, you’re definitely not the only one!

Sometimes it’s seriously hard to get your rump outta the bed in the morning, let alone get yourself motivated enough to workout.

Here are 3 of our secret tricks of the trade we’ve used to get that morning motivation flowing and keep it going all day long:

1. Do something that gives you joy in the morning

For me, it’s as small as a hot cup of coffee with almond milk to start the morning off right.

Liz loves this morning routine to get her geared up for the day.

Whatever it is for you, find something you really look forward to each morning when you wake up– whether that’s spending an extra 5 minutes in bed snuggling with a pet or loved one, listening to a motivational audio book, reading a book, putting on a cute outfit or taking a hot shower.

Find what works for you and stick with it! The more you create a routine in the morning that you enjoy, the more likely you’ll wake up motivated to tackle the day.

2. Get movin’!

Hands down, the easiest thing to get your morning motivation going is to move

Every morning, I wake up, drink some coffee, and hit the gym or do a home workout to get my blood flowin’ and my mind goin’. No joke, every single morning.

Was this easy to begin with? No, not really.

But, the more I did it, the more it became a part of who I am.

Now, if I don’t workout first thing in the morning I find I’m tired and not excited for the day. It’s the one time in the day that I get to have time for me. I put my headphones on and listen to my favorite music, and tune out everything/everyone around me.

I strongly urge you to do the same for 2 weeks. Before you know it, you’ll be hooked to the dose of energy and motivation you get by working out first thing in the morning. Plus, you’re less likely to skip your workout if you get up and get it over and done with in the morning.

3. Surround yourself with positivity

Liz and I have spent years listening to and reading positive, uplifting messages and it’s done wonders for our motivation.

What you surround yourself is what you ultimately become, so be wary of who you spend your time with and what you watch, listen to and read.

Put up motivational quotes around your house (bathroom mirror, fridge, etc) that will motivate you every time you see them. Or, create your own motivational photos with quotes overlaid that inspire yourself to stay on your journey to turn your dreams into a reality.

Or, try listen to an audiobook on YouTube. Some of our favorite motivational gurus are Tony Robbins, Chalene Johnson, Brendon Burchard, and Brian Tracy. We love to put on a video in the morning while we’re getting ready for our day.

Hopefully these 3 simple tips help you get motivated to make each morning productive and positive.

Don’t forget to start the day off with a healthy breakfast, especially if you just worked out! I usually reach for fresh fruit or juice for a simple meal that gets me energized for my day.
