How To Stay On Track While Traveling | Summer 2018 Updates

It’s summer time!

I could not be more excited. I LOVE this time of year. Oh also, did I mention… I am in BALI right now! Summer came early for me 😉

Truly Spiked

As I’ve gotten my summer routine on extra early this year, I just wanted to post a quick update on new things happening with me. Before I left, I got into such a great routine and I want to share it with you all to 1) help inspire you to get moving, and 2) share some of my recent obsessions that have been making the whole health routine MUCH easier.

So, I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of this… But about a month ago, I joined a gym called F45. It’s basically just a bunch of crazy functional workouts that go in quick circuits so you don’t get bored. Between this and my Bootcamp workouts, I have been CRUSHING the fitness department.

That’s been fun too because Sara and I got the whole family on board. We literally all wake up super early and go workout together. Do you ever do this? If not, try it…

It’s been fun and I feel amazing. Also though, I admit, I wasn’t prioritizing my yoga practice enough last few months either… so I’ve picked that back up, especially while traveling around Bali which is one of the biggest yoga capitals of the world.

I’ve been keeping it up as a daily habit here because it helps alleviate back pain from long flights or carrying heavy bags and such, and I feel SO good lately not just physically, but also mentally!

As far as my trip so far, I went to 2 secluded waterfalls and an incredibly remote village in Bali. No one knows it exists except the people who live there.

We met the small family who built the rice paddies where the oldest working rice farmer is 120 years old.

STILL farming rice! At 120 years old! THAT IS HEALTH.

We drank coconuts, ate raw coffee beans, mangosteen and cocoa pod fruit (did you know the pods that chocolate is made from have a VERY sweet pulp inside that tastes like lemonade before it’s made into chocolate?! because I didn’t!!) — all picked fresh from the path we walked.

I love traveling alone. Truly LOVE it.

There’s something so special about having no plan and just seeing what is out there and exploring the world! Funny enough, I met another Gemini from Wales and she and I are in very similar stages of life. We had a blast on the hike today. I love making new friends who stay active too.

I’ve also been being staying more conscious about my nutrition too (because hello short shorts, summer is here!).

This means I’ve been cutting back on unnecessary extra calories — especially carbs and alcohol. One of the biggest sources of hidden calories is usually alcohol, but I recently discovered a new liquid love affair that’s been making that whole calorie part much easier.

It’s called Truly Spiked & Sparkling® and it’s seriously so good! I love that it’s so guilt-free, and sometimes after yoga or a long hike, my girlfriends and I will crack one (or two!) of these and enjoy the rest of our day laughing together, aka … a bonus abs workout lol

It’s a really great refreshing post-workout pick me up! I wish I knew about Truly sooner — it has officially become my summer drink of choice.

Whether I’m out on the beach, just finished being active and am ready to kick back with the girls, or when I’ve been hosting gatherings lately with friends… Truly has been showing up and making an appearance on a few occasions.

I have written about alcohol before and how it’s essentially empty calories… But we all know that social gatherings tend to revolve around food and drink. If you like to partake in a drink or two but don’t want to ruin all the hard work you put in the gym, this low-cal, spiked (5% alcohol), sparkling water still allows you to have fun without sacrificing your fitness and nutrition routine.

It’s “Super Sister” approved. 🙂 Let me know if you’ve had this before!

A few of you have been asking why I went to Bali, and the truth is I was really craving adventure. I’m always looking for new places to travel, but it’s been fun to bring pieces of my normal routine over here to Indonesia too.

I’ve kept up with the yoga, have done a few more intense “F45 style” circuits (bodyweight only of course), and with the delicious fresh food here (and my Truly of course!), I have been able to take home with me all the way around the globe.

Now the next question is… when are we going to the beach? 😉

Hope you all plan something as fun as this trip has been! And don’t worry… If you don’t have something like this on your radar, that’s okay too. Soon I’ll be back home, still sticking to these routines there too.

Talk soon,
Liz
