3 Benefits of H.I.I.T. Workouts

HIIT Workouts are good for more than just making you sweat!

If you’ve done any of our workouts on YouTube, you know that we are huge fans of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

HIIT is an exercise method where you shift back and forth between short bursts of intense exercise followed by periods of light exercise or rest.

1. They are short and effective

Studies show just 2 weeks of high-intensity intervals improves your aerobic capacity as much as 6 to 8 weeks of endurance training.

How?

Every time you do HIIT you are pushing your body into the anaerobic zone (that lovely place where you can’t breathe and you feel like your heart is trying to jump out of your chest), and increasing your VO2 max (max amount of oxygen a person can use and transport during exercise) for both high intensity and endurance activities.

Plus,  HIIT workouts are typically less than 20 minutes, which means it’s great if you’re short on time!

2. HIIT training increases EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption)

This results in an elevated fat loss state for up to 24 hours after you finish your workout, which means you’ll be burning calories (and fat!) at a higher rate the rest of the day!

3. Increases Human Growth Hormone (HGH)

HGH is responsible for muscle gain and fat loss by increasing the synthesis of new protein tissue as well as increasing caloric burn.

HGH also is proven to slow down the aging process by stimulating cell reproduction and regeneration.
